School bus crash in Dubai causes multiple, but only minor injuries

DUBAI, UAE - There was a miraculous escape for a school bus packed with students and a water tanker that collided in Dubai on Monday.

Fifteen students from the Our Own English High School, a boys school at Al Warqa, were lucky to survive the crash with only minor injuries.

"An #accident on Business Bay Crossing,between "Our Own English High School-Al Warqa'a" bus & a water tanker resulted in 15 minor injuries among pupils; 2 minor&1 moderate injury among bus supervisors," Dubai Police posted in their Twitter page.

"Tanker driver sustained moderate injuries. All transferred to Rashid Hospital," the post added.

The school also issued a statement.

"We can confirm there was an incident involving one of our school buses on the way to school this morning. All students are safe," the statement said.

"However, a small number of students and staff sustained minor injuries and have been taken to hospital where they are being treated. All other students who were involved have been taken back to school and have been given a thorough check-up by the school doctor."

Earlier, Dubai Police cautioned motorists to be wary around the Business Bay crossing due to the collision.

"Traffic congestion due to a severe accident on Business Bay Crossing towards Al Rebat Road, please be extra cautious and take alternative ways," they tweeted.
