The Buffalo Bills are adding free agent running back Devonta Freeman to the practice squad, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.

The Bills need depth at the position after rookie Zack Moss sustained a serious ankle injury in Saturday's playoff victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Freeman is in his seventh NFL season. He was signed by the New York Giants after a season-ending injury to Saquon Barkley in Week 1 but played in just five games because of hamstring and ankle injuries and COVID-19. The Giants released him from injured reserve last week.

The Atlanta Falcons selected Freeman in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In 77 games with the Falcons, he gained 3,972 yards and scored 33 touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 257 passes for 2,015 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Freeman, 28, could practice with the Bills this week ahead of Saturday night's divisional playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens in Orchard Park, N.Y.
